Our Beekeeping 101 workshop will give you fundamentals of bee biology and behavior

to better prepare you to keep bees:

• basic honey bee biology and life cycle
• hive installation and placement
• beekeeping apparel & equipment
• basic beekeeping 101 management
• seasonal management
• diseases, pests, problems and treatments
• dealing with neighbors & community
• feeding colonies

While this event is free, we do suggest a donation to help support our nonprofit and offset the cost of this event:

$20 worker bee donation or $50 queen bee donation.

Roger Repohl

Roger Repohl began keeping honeybees in the South Bronx in 1999. He has given beekeeping and candle-making workshops and demonstrations at Wave Hill, the New York Botanical Garden, and other venues, and has lectured on the history and lore of bees and beekeeping at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and at the Cloisters. He holds a BA from Georgetown University and an MA from the Catholic University of America, and teaches ESL at LaGuardia Community College in Queens.
